THE IMPORTANCE OF SOUND IN FILM

WHAT IS SOUND?
A sound or a noise that is produced by continuous and regular vibrations.

WHAT IS A SOUNDSCAPE?
A piece of music in terms of component sounds?

WHAT IS SOUND DESIGN?
It is the process of specifying manipulating or generating audio elements.

Sound is used to establish tone, atmosphere and help give the audience clues about the plot, characters or to identify the genre of the film.it is also used to suspend disbelief  to create realism for the viewer and heighten their experience of the film. In class we watched clips from a movie one without sound and one with through this activity I discovered that sound plays a big part in keeping the viewers engaged and also helps prevent the audience from not understanding the narrative.
