WHAT MAKES A GOOD TITLE SEQUENCE?- KYLE COOPER
Kyle Cooper is generally known for his exquisite work on title sequence in particularly his work on the sequence for the film 'Seven' and is accredited with 'the man who single handily revitalised the title sequence as an art form'. Cooper believes there are three main requirements for making a very good title sequence, including:
- He says it must 'set an expectation for the film' so the audience are aware of what it may entail.
- 'The audience must feel excited' and enthralled by the sequence alluring them to watch further.
- The sequence must travels 'seamlessly into the film'
Cooper then went on explaining the importance of the font. He tells us that by it being 'handwritten' it was a way of the character 'scratching his emotion' as the 'type adds to the overall tone'.
Kyle cooper further goes on to say that,'Deadzone' and 'To Kill a Mockingbird' are two title sequences that he has been greatly inspired by. He tells us that he likes Deadzone for the simple typography and the music which sets the tone and atmosphere effectively. As for To Kill a Mocking Bird, he explains it encompasses obsession prevalent within the film and the typography is integrated rather than disassociated.
